Robert J. Davidson, Canadian artist, in 70s worked as producer for rock bands and designer in film animation industry. Robert says about himself: "These experiences made me realize that I simply could not live without art. I desire a free art, a pure art. And speaking of my style, or “surrealism”, I must confess that it is something that grew out of my own imagination. I simply enjoy taking a short stroll from time to time in the realm of imagination. I’ve found my wonderland - a land of beauty, goodness, and life. And I was even more interested in this way after studying and reading about the Surrealist Movement from the 1920s. To be honest, I had never once felt tired doing over and over again this kind of art. Au contraire, the very process seems to me more and more fascinating. So, back in the 1970s, I started to work with a group of fellow artists who were also interested in fantasy and surrealist art".
Rober Davidson founded the West Coast Surrealist Group in Vancouver, BC, which existed untill 90s. He also run the Gallery "Move" which successfully promoted surrealism on the West Coast.
